HBCU Leaders Urge Senate Leaders to Pass Build Back Better
Bold investment package will provide historic levels of funding for HBCUs and other minority serving institutions.
This week, Presidents and Chancellors from Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs) across the country sent a letter to Senate leadership urging the Senate to swiftly pass the Build Back Better Act which will provide historic levels of funding for HBCUs and other minority serving institutions.
In September, the Biden-Harris Administration hosted National HBCU Week, an Administration-wide effort that included resources for obtaining federal government support to improve infrastructure and capacity at HBCUs, reimagine STEM, and renovate and sustain cultural assets. President Biden also announced his appointment of Dr. Tony Allen, President of Delaware State University, as Chair of the President’s Board of Advisors on HBCUs.
The Biden-Harris Administration has clearly prioritized and delivered historic investments in and support for HBCUs and the President will continue to do so through his ambitious proposals and consistent actions. The letter from HBCU presidents below is an example of the wide support President Biden's initiatives have among the community.
